The WSU Center for Precision & Automated Agricultural Systems congratulates Biological Systems Engineering graduate student Mark De Kleine for receiving the William R. Wiley Research Exposition award in the Agricultural & Natural Sciences poster category. This award, hosted annually by the Graduate and Professional Student Association of Washington State University, recognizes students for exemplary scholarship and research.

The CPAAS Technology Expo at the WSU Sunrise Research Orchard in Wenatchee featured demonstrations of many of the research projects currently being conducted at the Center for Precision and Automated Agricultural Systems.

August 11, 2012

NWAFU Past President Jing Li and his wife visited CPAAS on August 10-11.  During his visit, Prof. Li toured the CPAAS facility and watched equipment demonstrations. His group also toured dry-land wheat production in Dayton, WA and tree fruit production in the Prosser, WA area.

August 2, 2012

Washington State governor Chris Gregoire visited the WSU Center for Precision & Automated Agricultural Systems (CPAAS) on August 2, 2012 in Prosser, WA to tour the CPAAS facilities and to review research projects that may ultimately benefit Washington State agricultural producers.

June 4, 2012

On Monday June 4, 2012 at the Washington State University Irrigated Agriculture Research & Extension Center (IAREC) in Prosser, researchers updated about 150 cherry growers, industry leaders and students on their research projects.  Current research projects presented included stem free cherry genetics and Solid Set Canopy Delivery Systems.  The WSU Prosser extension is also in its third year of a four-year, $4 million federal grant to create a new orchard system for cherries. Researchers are trying to help growers stay competitive and increase profitability.

In April, the WSU Center for Precision & Automated Agricultural Systems faculty participated in an International Symposium on Mechanical Harvesting and Handling Systems of Fruits and Nuts in Florida.
