Programs

AgWeatherNet  -(AWN) provides access to current and historical weather data from Washington State University's automated weather station network along with a range of models and decision aids.  The weather data, advisories, weather data products and decision support systems provided by AgWeatherNet and WSU can help improve production and product quality, optimize resource use and reduce environmental impact.

Habitat Restoration in Vineyards for Sustainable Pest Management and Beneficial Insect Conservation.

Grape Virology Program conducts fundamental and applied research in a holistic manner for the management of virus diseases impacting vine health and fruit quality.  Multidisciplinary, trans-instituional collaborations involving graduate students and post-doctoral research associates, experiential education opportunities for undergraduate students and partnerships with industry stakeholders are vital componets of the program advancing prosperity of the grap and wine industry in Washington State.

Irrigated Soil Management-Managing soil, water, and plant nutrients to produce high quality agricultural products.

Stone Fruit Physiology-This research program identifies, and develops pragmatic solutions to, the key factors limiting consistent, sustainable, and profitable stone fruit production.  Research efforts study the genetic, horticultural, and physiological components, as well as their interaction.  Particular emphasis is given to developing high efficiency sweet cherry orchard systems.   

The Clean Plant Network- Northwest tests and develops foundation level planting stock of vegetatively propagated perennial speciality crops.  The Clean Plant Center is one of 16 centers funded through the National Clean Plant Network and serves the temperate fruit and nut tree, the grapevine and the hop industries.  In addition, the WSU ELISA testing laboratory provides virus tesing to support many regional agricultural speciality crops.
